To avoid Keres attack against Scheveningen variation, Kasparov plays 5.... a6 before 6.... e6 : 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be3 e6. Chapters 9 to 13 analyzed the English Attack against Scheveningen reviewed by Kasparov, position obtained by this variation can be transposed from KAN variation : 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 a6 5.Nc3 d6 6.Be3 Nf6.
